Announcing A New Website for McKenzie Lake Lawyers
We are excited to announce the launch of the new mckenzielake.com, a law firm website designed and built by our team of talented designers and developers.
McKenzie Lake Lawyers is a leading law firm in Southwestern Ontario, with expertise across a range of business, personal injury, and family law practice areas. The firm approached fSquared Marketing in 2019 about a new website, one that would exemplify the firm’s commitment to being “here for you”, a message we had developed for the client as part of an on-going advertising campaign. They also were looking for a more user-friendly site on both the front and back-end with additional law firm-focused functionality.
The new website is modern and responsive, providing an excellent user experience on desktop, tablet, and smartphone. We’re proud to announce that it meets Level AA requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0). This was a crucial project requirement since Ontario web accessibility law requires that, as of January 2021, “all public websites and web content posted after January 1, 2012 must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA”. In terms of both design and performance, the firm’s new website is an improvement over the previous site, which suffered from bugs and a somewhat awkward navigation structure. Our designers took care of those issues, creating a seamless user experience from the homepage to insight posts to lawyer bios.
Speaking of lawyer bios, we captured authentic, personality-rich photographs of the firm’s lawyers and completely reworked the lawyer bio pages. Check out this before and after.

The backend of the website is also much easier to use, which will make it easier for the firm’s marketing professionals to upload new content. We built out an entire podcast section, functionality that McKenzie Lake will be using to launch their podcast in Q1 2021.
In terms of technical improvements, the firm’s new website is much faster, loading in a blazingly fast 0.49 seconds. This is a more than 500% speed improvement over the firm’s old website. This is important because site speed affects both the user experience and SEO ranking. Google, the reigning king of search engines, released this statement: “Like us, our users place a lot of value in speed — that’s why we’ve decided to take site speed into account in our search rankings.” Our team also implemented SEO best practices across the new website, including alt text and meta descriptions, to improve performance in organic search.
