Jill is an accomplished web developer, specializing in designing innovative WordPress websites for interesting people. She was named one of the top 100 Influencers of WordPress in 2014 by Torque Magazine and one of the Top 10 Women of WordPress by CloudWays. With a background in computer science, and a strong grounding in business, Jill approaches each project from both a technical and a marketing standpoint. Every one of the sites she’s designed is unique, reflecting the personality of the business/organization/firm, while delivering excellent performance, and attracting the right clients.
After graduating from Carleton University with a degree in Computer Science, Jill worked as part of the User-Centred Design team at IBM, a business and technical consultant to the highest gross and volume sellers on eBay, and in business consulting roles. In 2010, she returned to BCIT to supercharge her web development skills. Since then, Jill has used her talents for good, building websites for ethical companies, non-profits, and leading law firms.
WordPress is open source, which means that it is built, maintained and improved upon by a community of passionate designers. Jill is committed to giving back to the WordPress Community; she co-organized WordCamp Vancouver for several years, and now she is leading a global team that helps women and other underrepresented groups speak more at WordPress events around the world. She teaches classes, facilitates workshops, and serves as a member of the WordPress.org Community and Training teams. When she isn’t coding, Jill loves ukuleleing, drawing, and traveling.
