– Kelly Friedman, Partner
Kelly started her blog to open a dialogue about e-discovery, privacy and all things data, so we designed her new microsite brand to reflect this. We wanted her site to reflect her confidence and expertise in her field, so the colours are bold, the contrast sharp, and the imagery features confident women in the early days of computing technology.
The logo is a variation of a command prompt from early operating systems, and these symbols, the : , /, and binary 0’s and 1’s are carried through the site in keeping with the computing theme. (We’re waiting for the day when someone spots the hidden meaning of those “random” 1’s and 0’s across the site!)
In order to define the website goals, we worked closely with Kelly to gain a better understanding of what she wanted to achieve through her microsite, and to learn more about its target audience and their potential needs. We established specific user requirements and prepared functional specifications for the D Drive, which would ultimately create the desired user experience. Information Architecture (IA) and Interface Design (IDW) were developed, and these acted as a framework for the design and development phases of the project.
The creative look and feel of the website was informed by the overall brand. The key objectives of ensuring that both Kelly and her expert content were immediately accessible for her audience were the focus of design and development while ensuring ease of access on a variety of a variety of platforms, including laptops, tablets and smartphones.
